Digital video promotion is now one of the most cost-effective ways to market your small or midsized business – this is particularly the case if you are promoting your videos on YouTube. This is even more self evident if you are making a direct comparison with the kind of results you may have already obtained using traditional SEO techniques for your website results. Naturally traditional SEO is still an effective way to drive potential customers to your website however, the competition to rank your website on page one has grown extremely intense over the last several years. In contrast, digital video marketing remains an essentially untapped resource and it is still relatively easy to rank your videos highly in the search engine results. This is particularly the case since Google introduced ‘universal search’ into its algorithm: ‘universal search’ renders different ‘streams’ into it’s results page. For instance, Google will now return news, image, video as well as traditional website results for any particular search term or keyword.

This short article gives you an idea of just some of the significant marketing benefits you will get when using digital video media to promote your products or services. This is a list of some of the more important benefits you can expect with your video marketing campaign:

1 – Cost effectiveness. As mentioned before, one of the biggest advantages of using digital video media is the high return on investment. Producing the actual videos is actually much more affordable than most business owners realize and getting those videos to rank well in the search engine results is much easier than getting your website onto page one of Google. As a result, you will not need to invest nearly as much into your video marketing campaign as you would for a comparable website SEO campaign.

2 – Zeroing in on a very targeted group of potential customers. One of the primary reasons why videos are such an effective marketing tool is the fact that your audience is more likely to be interested in watching a targeted and related video than read a large block of text that essentially gives the same information. As you may know, gaining the interest of your market is already half the battle, and videos can help win them over and make it more likely for them to buy the products or services that you’re offering.

3 – Allows you to add a personal touch. As a marketer, you probably know that trust plays a huge factor in whether or not people will purchase you’re offering. When you use video as a promotional tool you are automatically giving your brand its own ‘personality’ and as a result, your likelihood of establishing a relationship with the customer and ultimately making a sale, will increase.

4 – Video allows you to connect with a massive audience. Millions of people already use YouTube to search for information and products reviews which allows you to tap into a huge pre-existing marketplace. Recently YouTube has taken over the number two spot for search engine use and is now ahead of Yahoo! and Bing.

5 – Video marketing can be used as a powerful lead generation and qualification tool. This is because a company sponsored video can create a much better active response from a potential customer in comparison to them having read similar text on a web-page.

6 – YouTube has its own a built-in Analytics tool that allows you to extract a great deal of important data. In fact YouTube’s Analytics gives you deep access to much of the demographic information needed to analyze the success of your marketing campaign.

In conclusion, video promotion, and in particular YouTube Marketing, is an extremely effective way to build up your customer base without taking a massive hit to your budget. Make sure that you choose the right video marketing company to do the work for you so that you will be able to get great value on your investment.

Important Questions To Ask Before Hiring a Website Designer | Local Business Website Design

Local Business Website Design

Your website will represent your business online and should have a look and feel similar to your local business – professional and welcoming. When it comes time to choose a web designer, you’ll want to make sure you’ve chosen an individual or group who not only understands your needs but has the technical know-how to turn your vision into a reality.

Start by narrowing your search down to several web designers, at least two or three. Then you can undertake a direct interview with each one making very sure they match the qualifications you require. Their responses will tell you quite a bit about their abilities.

May I see your portfolio?

This should be your first request. The first thing you’re looking for is a track record of actually completing projects. The next thing you are looking to find out is, ‘can this web designer creates sites that I think are visually appealing as well as effective?’ Don’t accept pictures or screen-shots, make sure you are able to visit at least one or two websites he completed himself.

Will I Own My Own Website Domain?

Some site designers may want to keep the rights to all the content of your site including even the domain name. You are paying for the website, so you should have access to all of the hosting accounts and you should have a backup copy of the website on file. You’ll want to make sure you have the information necessary to move to another designer if you should choose to do so in the future.

What browsers will my website support?

Some sites may look very different in certain browsers. A site may look really great in Internet Explorer but may not look quite right in FireFox, Safari or Opera.. So you need to verify that your site will look good across all the major browsers.

How Easy Will it be to Make Site Updates in the future?

Creating the initial website is one thing. Updating the site at a later date, is another. Make sure you know if you will be able to make simple text updates yourself or if you will have to ask him every time new material needs to be added. If you are able to make your own edits, will you have to learn a difficult web application? Make sure you’re getting a modern built-in editing program, similar to WordPress if possible.

What is the time-frame for delivery of our new Local Business Website Design and how much will the site cost?

Once you’ve explained your requirements, the designer should be able to provide you with a detailed scope of work and an estimate of the budget. Clarify whether or not the developer is charging a flat rate for the project or if he has an hourly rate.

What questions do you have for me?

Ask the developer if he has any questions for you. He should definitely ask you about your goals for the business in general, how you want the website to look and feel, and what you’d consider a successful site. The more he asks, the greater your odds of getting a site you really like. Don’t rush to choose the first web developer you speak to. You should talk with at least a couple of strong candidates and select the individual you make a strong connection with. The end result will be a direct reflection of your communications.

Is Search Engine Optimization or Is Search Engine Optimization Marketing Included in our Local Business Website Design?

The truth is, most web designers are not qualified to optimize your new site for the search engines. Many small business owners assume that their new site will magically get lots of targeted visitors: this is a very poor assumption. As this is crucial to your business, it’s important that you discuss the topic of SEO to see if they will perform basic SEO strategies to your new website or if they can refer you to a qualified SEO Consultant.

Video and Podcast Online Marketing | Video Marketing

It’s surprisingly easy to create compelling and dynamic video marketing content.

The use of video marketing can generate much better exposure compared to that garnered by regular website marketing using more traditional techniques. A second wave of exposure can be realized by submitting Podcasts of the same material used in the original videos.

Video Marketing

Current research indicates that 38% of US online users make extensive use of Video Search. YouTube is now the 2nd largest Search Engine after Google. In 2009 YouTube surpassed Yahoo as the world’s number 2 search engine (if you consider YouTube’s “integrated search” as a regular search engine). YouTube continues to be a standout contributor for Google, generating an average of 2.73 billion searches each month in the U.S. in 2009.

Google has also started to return video results on its regular webpage searches. If a company is the only one to “own” a specific niche or ‘long tail’ key phrase results with video content, they have a good chance to be on the first page of a regular Google search. This has incalculable value and represents one of the most realistic ways that most small business can expect to get free (non PPC) page one results in Google at the national level. Of course, when Google returns a video result, it also includes a thumbnail of the video which means that even although the link may not be at the top of the page, a much higher percentage of people will click on it because of the image.

To create a successful video marketing campaign, you will need to create a good quality 4 or 5 minute long piece with a mix of live action and perhaps a slideshow with strong images. Add some royalty free music into the mix to make the video interesting and dynamic. You should also try to create a strong presentation using a process whereby you demonstrate the Features, Advantages and Benefits to your prospective customers. In other words, you not only explain what kind of services and products your site offers, but also outline the key benefits your visitors can anticipate.

Your video should then be optimized for online exposure using Backlinks in a similar way as you would for a normal website. For example you might create links to your video from articles you submitted to the major Web 2.0 sites as well as Backlinks from other high Page Ranked websites. You might also consider submitting the video to the social network sites and post its link on relevant forums. You can even get great high page ranked Backlinks by using the “Channel Comments” within YouTube itself. Another way to get wide exposure for your video is to submit it to the other major video websites so that the associated keywords, metatags, and categories can be listed in all these major video search engines.

Once you have completed your video presentation you can then use that same material to create a Podcast. Once again, this Podcast can then be submitted to various Podcast aggregator websites. The idea is to uncover multiple different ways to disseminate your content to as many outlets as possible.

Online video marketing is constantly evolving and so your approach will need to change with the times. The summary above represents most of the current ‘best practices’ on how to get the most out of your online Local Business promotion, but your techniques will need to evolve as new online marketing options emerge.

Stay tuned for more video marketing secrets.
